Controllers for Elevators
EBM provides one-time or recurring services for the repair and mantenance of elevator control systems. We provide full service to building owners in El Paso who are in need of this type of service. When you become an EBM customer, you'll have confidence that the central processing unit of your lift system receives the important upgrades it needs for long-life.
An elevator controller acts as a "brain" for an elevator system. It manages all of the operational aspects of a functioning lift system.
What are the main functions of an elevator controller?
The core functions of the controller are the following:
- Motion and Speed: Regulates travel speed, acceleration, deceleration, and floor-to-floor leveling.
- Signal Processing: Receives commands from car buttons, hall calls, and sensors, then translates them into physical action.
- Door Operations: Controls door opening and closing speeds, dwell times, and safety edge re-open signals.
- Safety Monitoring: Manages interlocks, emergency stop circuits, door lock monitoring, and overspeed protections.
Where is the controller located?
There are a few possible locations where a controller can be installed.
- Machine Room: Traditional traction or hydraulic elevators house the controller inside a dedicated control box in an equipment room.
- Hoistway (MRL): Machine-Room-Less (MRL) elevators place the controller compactly inside the elevator shaft wall or a slim cabinet somewhere nearby.

A compact elevator control family designed to fit into a small package that is easy to handle, install and ship.
A typical Prodigy traction controller weighs under 200 pounds and has a small 22" x 14" footprint, so it fits easily through the tightest machine room accessways.
Ideal for hydraulic, MRL and traction applications, Prodigy controllers are bundled with the features you need and want.

This series is a standardized non-proprietary control platform for Hydraulic, AC and DC Traction, and MRL elevators.
Advanced microprocessor technology has consolidated PC boards and eliminated many component parts.
Modular design is retained to ensure essential maintainability. CSA and TSSA certifications confirm safety code compliance.
